Work-related stress is no joke!

If you're looking for a new job, you may want to avoid the city of Des Moines. The city in Iowa was ranked the #2 city in the U.S. for stressed out employees. This is according to PR Newswire, who surveyed about 2,200 CFOs and over 1,000 U.S. workers age 18 and older. The rest of the top 5 are as follows:

  1. Salt Lake City
  2. Des Moines (tied with Boston)
  3. Boston
  4. Cleveland
  5. New York

The survey also found that men are slightly more stressed than women when it comes to work, and people age 18-34 are the most stressed of any age group. The things that stress us out the most at work are:

  • A heavy workload and looming deadlines (33%)
  • Maintaining a work/life balance (22%)
  • Unrealistic expectations of superiors (22%)
  • Coworker conflicts (15%)

So what are the best ways to combat this workplace stress? Things like daily exercise, engaging in a hobby, listening to music, and spending time with friends or a significant other are recommended by professionals.

Happy Monday!
