A boil advisory will go into effect in the city of Delhi today. Routine maintenance on the city's water tower has caused the advisory.

Work on the tower will begin today at 8 a.m. and should be finished up on Thursday. The boil order will be lifted at noon on Thursday. Until then, it is recommended that residents boil their water for at least one minute or just buy bottled water.

The city notes that the boil order is a precaution and isn't mandatory.
