Cedar Rapids will be a buzz of activity Saturday, Sunday, and on the 4th of July. Here's everything you need to know on what's happening where and what streets to avoid.

It all begins Saturday with the Downtown Farmer's Market. Here's the list of streets that will be closed from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The event itself runs from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

  • 2nd Avenue SE from 1st Street SE to 6th Street SE
  • 3rd Avenue SE from 1st Street SE to 6th Street SE
  • 4th Avenue SE from 1st Street SE to 6th Street SE
  • 2nd Street SE from 1st Avenue SE to Transit Way SE/4th Avenue SE
  • 3rd Street SE from 1st Avenue SE to 5th Avenue SE
  • 5th Street SE from 1st Avenue SE to 5th Avenue SE

If you're coming to the Farmer's Market, consider using the following parkades: 4th Avenue, GTC, 5 Seasons or Convention Complex.

Rip Roar Kids Triathlon, July 2

The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday and the following streets will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.:

  • Stoney Point Road NW from 1st Avenue W to Worchester Road NW, including the intersection of Stoney Point Road NW & E Avenue NW.

Freedom Festival Imagination Square, July 2

The event is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the lawn in front of NewBo City Market. Only streets in the immediate vicinity will be closed:

  • 3rd Street SE from 11th Avenue SE to 12th Avenue SE
  • 11th Avenue SE from 3rd Street SE to the east end (abandoned 4th Street SE)

Freedom Festival Parade, July 2

Here's the route for the 2016 parade:

The parade begins at 10 a.m. with street closures ending at noon. These are the streets that will be closed:

  • C Street SW from 16th Avenue SW to 21st Avenue SW
  • 17th Avenue SW from A Street SW to C Street SW
  • 18th Avenue SW from A Street SW to C Street SW
  • 20th Avenue SW from A Street SW to B Street SW
  • 21st Avenue SW from A Street SW to C Street SW
  • 22nd Avenue SW from A Street SW to C Street SW (not to include C Street)
    NOTE: Bowling Street SW/C Street SW/21st Avenue SW must be open for turning traffic. But shall not be open for through traffic.
  • A Street SW from 16th Avenue SW to 21th Avenue SW
  • 9th Avenue SE from 3rd Street SE to 4th Street SE
  • 3rd Street SE from 9th Avenue SE to 16th Avenue SE
  • 16th Avenue SE from 3rd Street SE to and across the Bridge of Lions and from the Bridge of Lions across 16th Avenue SW to C Street SW

Music at the Museum, July 3

This event is hosted by the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

  • The only street affected by the event is the cul-de-sac on Inspiration Pl SW, which will be restricted.

Cedar Boat Club Annual Fireworks, July 3

The fireworks display begins at approximately 9:30. Road closures begin at 6:30 p.m.

  • Ellis Boulevard NW will be closed from Ellis Lane to 16th Street NW, including access to Ellis Park from Zika Avenue at 16th Street.
  • The rest of Ellis Boulevard from 16th Street NW to Edgewood Road NW and the area of 20th Street NW from Zika Avenue to Hidden Hollow Lane NW will be also be closed. The specific time will be determined by Cedar Rapids Police, on the scene.

Fifth Season Race, July 4

The race starts at 8 a.m., ending at 11 a.m. These streets will be closed, with times varying as noted.

  • 3rd Avenue SE between the 4th Street railroad tracks and 5th Street SE (5 a.m. to noon)
  • 3rd Avenue SE between the 4th Street railroad tracks and Grande Avenue SE (7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.)
  • Grande Avenue SE between 3rd Avenue SE and Bever Park (7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.)

Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival – July 4

The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival will be holding the Fourth of July Celebration from 4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Streets in and around downtown will be affected:

  • 1st Avenue (between 1st Street SW and 1st Street SE) is closed from 3 a.m. Sunday through 3 a.m. Tuesday.
  • 1st Avenue (between 1st Street SW and 2nd Street SW) is closed from 6 p.m. Sunday through 3 a.m. Tuesday.
  • 1st Street (between A Avenue NW and 2nd Avenue SW) is closed from 6 p.m. Sunday through 3 a.m. Tuesday.
  • 8th Avenue (between 1st Street SW and 2nd Street SE) from before the fireworks display (exact time of closure to be determined by Cedar Rapids Police or Linn County Sherrif's Department on site) until about 30 minutes after fireworks display ends Monday evening.
  • 2nd and 3rd Avenues will be closed to traffic between 1st Street SE and 1st Street SW from 6 p.m. Sunday until 3 a.m. Tuesday.
