Spring is here and so is the nice weather (for the most part). With temperatures warming up, it’s the perfect time to get outdoors. If you’re looking for a weekend getaway that’s not too far away, Only In Your State showcased this ‘Secluded Glampground In Iowa That Will Take You A Million Miles Away From It All’.

Take the roughly two-and-a-half hour drive from Cedar Rapids up to Yellow River State Forest and you won’t be disappointed!

Views at Yellow River will take your breath away, as canyons and bluffs create scenic overlooks throughout the trails. Not only are there incredible views, but there are miles of trout streams, hiking, snowmobile and horse trails, and several picnic areas to relax and re-energize. Just check out some of these photos from people who have seen it themselves!

YELLOW RIVER FOREST STATE PARK, IOWA. JULY 2017. I took the beauty in my own backyard for granted for as long as I can remember. Dreaming of far away places without any regard for what was right around the corner. It wasn't until we began to take up hiking that I explored the possibility of seeing what my state had to offer. All of this beauty, just under my nose, that I was blind to. And suddenly everything came into focus. We packed a backpack and piled into our car to drive the 2.5 hours to Yellow a River State Park. Complete hiking novices we had snacks, workout clothes and gym shoes. What more did we need?! The answer wasn't "a lot", but we needed to be better prepared. A backpack to hold water bottles, shoes made for hiking up hills and over rocks (and not the elliptical machine at the gym), and bug spray. Definitely bug spray for July in Iowa. And while we've hiked more locations and we've upgraded our hiking gear since this day trip, this place will always be near and dear to my heart. It was the first hike I took. It was the moment my soul realized how much beauty there is just around the corner in my own home state. It was the place I realized that nature and I have a lot more catching up to ❤ #ordinarygirlextraordinaryworld #travelblogger #iowa #yellowriverstateforest #hiking #wanderlust #nature #outdoors #travel #daytrip

Another plus is that camping won’t cost you much either! It’s $9.00 a night during the summer, $6.00 a night throughout the rest of the year and an additional $3.00 per night for equestrian campgrounds, according to Iowadnr.gov.

Don’t worry, if camping isn’t your thing they have cabins available for rent!

Now don’t just look at the pretty pics, get out there and enjoy the beautiful outdoors!
