Authorities in Cerro Gordo County have announced the remains of a white female between the ages of 20 and 45 were found in rural Mason City earlier this month.

It immediately brings to mind former CBS 2 anchor Jodi Huisentruit. She was a morning anchor at KIMT in Mason City when she failed to show up for work the morning of June 27, 1995. She has never been found, but KIMT says forensic testing has confirmed the remains are not those of Jodi.

The remains were discovered May 20 in the 22000 block of 275 Street, in rural Mason City. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office first responded to the scene and called in the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

An autopsy on the human remains was done three days later by the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office. Results of the autopsy haven't been released but an anthropologist says the remains belong to a woman who was between 5 feet and 5-feet-7-inches tall. The body is estimated to have been at the location between 5 and 15 years.

Anyone who has knowledge of a missing person matching the above description is asked to call the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office at 641-421-3000.
