Iggy Azalea Canceled Her 2015 Tour Because of a ‘Psychotic Breakdown’
If that answer never really sounded like the whole truth to you, that's because it wasn't.
“I had to have a psychotic breakdown last year,” Azalea said in an interview with Schön! Magazine. “I felt tired and stressed out."
Azalea continued, saying her decision to abstain from the spotlight was based partly on her contentious relationship with the press, who she says portrayed her in an unfair light.
“Last year, I felt like I was definitely not in control of the media’s narrative of me. It made me feel very out of control of my own life or my ability to have my own perception of who I was,” she told the magazine (via Page Six). “You don’t want someone else writing your narrative and making you the villain. Then I just realized that, you know what, you can’t control it and I think I accepted that and moved on to living my life.”
But there's good news for fans: Azalea plans on touring her upcoming album -- which is set for a release later this year -- though she recognizes it may be tough to strike a truly harmonious work/life balance.
“See? It’s too much stuff," she said, noting that she's currently planning her wedding to Nick Young. "I’ve got to have a wedding and go on a f—king honeymoon and…put on an arena tour, all across the whole world."
The current issue of Schön! hit newsstands today (March 17), but you can check out a virtual version on their official site.
