Kendall Jenner Taking Over as Iconic Pepsi Emblem: Watch Out, Cindy
Jenner confirmed today (March 4) via People that she'll serve as the iconic soda brand's new model symbol, harking back to the famous 1992 commercial in which Crawford stopped at a gas station to quench her thirst with a can of the cola. And Jenner said she's thrilled to step into the role.
“It’s an honor to be following up some of the icons and amazing, cool people that have done this before me,” she said, and added that it's “a dream come true” to be the first such model for Pepsi in 25 years.
Still, in 2017, Jenner and Pepsi are going in a bit more of a pointedly political direction. In their first project, a commercial called "Live For Now," Jenner plays a model who notices a freedom rally manifesting nearby. She eventually ditches a blond wig, throws on some street clothes and joins. Eventually, she's able to broker peace between protestors and police by offering authorities a refreshing...you know.
And this is just one example of how Jenner says modeling — in broad strokes — has helped her to develop a more confident voice.
"I used to be very, very shy before I started really working, and since I’ve been really working I think I’ve been more open,” she said.
