This is one of the weirdest endings to a police chase I've ever seen.

Thursday night at around 6:15, Marion Police responded to a burglary call in the 900 block of Blairs Ferry Road. According to KCRG, the suspect drove off when police arrived and refused to stop when officers tried to pull him over. A high-speed chase followed, which eventually also involved the Iowa State Patrol and Linn County Sheriff's Office. The chase ended at a Springville convenience store in a very strange way.

In the exclusive video (at bottom) from CBS 2 you can see the chase involving the suspect, 52-year-old William Mattix. Once it finally ends, we learn why he finally stopped at a convenience store. Around the 1:20 mark of the video, a member of law enforcement can clearly be heard asking Mattix,

"What kind of Pepsi do you want, a Diet Pepsi or a regular?... You want a Cherry Pepsi... Hey, I will get you the pop you want, but you've gotta give up first..."

I'd love to ask that law enforcement officer about other weird requests he's had when apprehending suspects because I've gotta believe a Cherry Pepsi has to rank right up near the top.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the chase and Mattix was arrested without further incident. He's being held in the Linn County Jail on charges of failure to obey a traffic control device, attempting to elude, and third-degree burglary. He faces up to six years in jail.
