Man Who Wins Mister Ugly Contest Deemed Too Handsome. Really.
If there's such a thing as winning ugly, this is it.
Mison Sere, 42, has been crowned the winner of Zimbabwe's Mister Ugly contest. Sere won on the strength of all the teeth he's missing, as well as a series of nasty facial expressions he can make.
Sere beat out William Masvinu, the defending champion who'd won all three previous Mister Ugly competitions held in the country.
Masvinu was definitely not a gracious loser. He actually said the following in response to losing:
I am naturally ugly. He is not. He is ugly only when he opens his mouth."
Another contestant was also displeased, saying, "Do we have to lose our teeth to win? This is cheating."
For his part, Sere said, "They should just accept that I am uglier than them. I hope to get a TV contract. I already moved around schools performing and showcasing my ugliness so this is a chance to make it on TV."
It's good to hear that even without his teeth, he's rarin' to take a bite out of the entertainment industry.
After Sere was announced as the winner, the other contestants (there were 36 in total) pushed and shoved in protest. Sere, meanwhile, won $500, which, hopefully he'll consider using on dental work.
