Students Walkout at Three Cedar Rapids and Marion Schools [VIDEO]
It was a week ago today that our hearts were broken, again, by the news of a shooting at a high school in the United States. Seventeen people were killed in, or near, Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on the afternoon of Valentine's Day. This morning, students at Cedar Rapids Washington High School, Franklin Middle School, and Marion High School all walked out of class for 17 minutes to remember each person that was killed and to protest gun violence.
This morning's walkouts included moments of silence and speakers, according to CBS 2.
Authorities around the U.S. have uncovered planned attacks at a number of other schools in the last week. Two of them were very near the state of Iowa, both yesterday.
