It was only 2+ years ago that everyone and every business was generating these little boxes that were an important part of the smart phone culture.  And almost instantly, they have all but vanished.  RIP QR code.

I admit, it took me a while to enter the smart phone age, but about 2 years ago, I committed.  One requirement, I needed to be able to scan QR codes, cause they were everywhere and I felt I was missing out.  Yup, I'm strange like that.  And the sales person looked at me goofy that I didn't understand "there's an ap for that."  I was pretty much clueless.  #TechnologyDumb I guess.

So I get the phone, I get the aps, and I scan away... to find they just went directly to a website?  That's kinda dumb.  And apparently I wasn't the only one who felt the same, as now, you hardly ever seem them, as everything has become more of a Shazam this, Shazam that, and simply, "Here's our website, go to it."  And the other half of the public is still trying to solve the mystery of what these boxes do.

Does anyone miss the QR code?
