Tons of people watch the Super Bowl every year for the commercials and this year, you'll see something very different.

Above is Scout, a Golden Retriever, that's owned by David MacNeil, the CEO of WeatherTech. The company makes products for pets, the home, and automotive accessories.

More than a year ago, doctors found that Scout had an aggressive, cancerous tumor on his heart. Things didn't look good. Veterinarians game Scout a month to live, and just a one percent chance of survival.

MacNeil told NBC 15, "There he was in this little room, standing in the corner... and he's wagging his tail at me. I'm like 'I'm not putting that dog down. There's just absolutely no way.'" He then sought the help of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in Madison.

Once in Madison, Scout was treated with radiation and chemotherapy. After just a few weeks of treatment, the tumor was 22 percent its original size. Today, it's nearly gone.

Scout, appeared in WeatherTech's 2019 Super Bowl commercial, at the bottom of this story. This year, he'll be back with a very different message. It asks viewers to donate to cancer research in dogs. Cancer is the number one killer of aging dogs. For those of us who love them with all our hearts, that's a message we can all get behind.

The commercial will air in the second quarter of Sunday's game. You can watch it here:
