Iowa Man Charged with Indecent Contact with Two Kids in Swisher
Authorities in Johnson County have charged a Des Moines man with two counts of indecent contact with a child. The charges stem from an incident at last week's Swisher Fun Days.
25-year-old John Schulte of Des Moines is accused of touching two girls inappropriately July 28 in Swisher, the final day of the two-day event. Schulte was originally charged with two counts of simple assault along with public intoxication.
According to KWWL, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office says witnesses saw Schulte lift a 4-year-old and a 10-year-old above his head and "then make contact between his face and their groin area." Investigators also say the girls told them Schulte said, "he loved them and would take care of them."
Witnesses reported to authorities that after picking up the youngest child, it appeared Schulte was going to leave with her. A witness reportedly took the girl away from him and gave her back to her mom.
The Johnson County Jail website shows Schulte was booked on the charges around mid-afternoon today.
