It's been a couple weeks since we wrapped up the first round of the Collins Community Credit Union Scholarship Scramble.  Solon, Prairie, Washington, and Center Point-Urbana all advanced to the second round, which kicks off finally This Saturday night, and we can't wait, as Solon takes on Washington, in what may be one of the best face-offs this season.

Just to recap, Washington's Noah made it to this round by defeating Springville, who has made it to the finals ever single year.  This puts some pressure on Noah's shoulders, as Washington has never won the Scramble before. In fact, this is the furthest they’ve made it in 3 years of this competition's existence.  Noah also has the highest points total so far this season, as he was the only competitor to advance scoring more than 6 points. He scored 7 out of 9 points.

Representing Solon will be Preston, who interestingly enough is not a football player, but rather a runner.  He also is the only competitor, other than Noah, to have hit the final throw from midfield.  He has also recorded the fastest time so far this year, which we have a feeling could make a difference in this particular competition.  As for pressure, Solon won the competition in the second year, and would like to see it return home.

We have no doubt this will be an exciting face-off, with a lot riding on it, as the winner not only makes it to the finals, but in doing so, they are guaranteed at least $250 in scholarship money, as both first and second place get some prize money.

We hope to see you Saturday night not only cheering on your Titans and these contestants, but also in support of fighting Breast Cancer, as it's Breast Cancer Awareness Night, so wear your pink, and feel free to drop any extra coins you can in the buckets coming around during the game.
